Message From Our Minister:
Hello Friends,
When I graduated from seminary and was ordained in June 2012, I was so excited to begin my new path as minister at Unity of Ames. I have been here since that time and the past 14 years have been the some of the most meaningful of my life. What makes the years so blessed is the beautiful folks who have been a part of our spiritual community. That is my basic start point as minister: UCOA is our spiritual community. And our basic mission statement, “Through the Christ Spirit in us, we create a better church and a better world, so be it!” has been the hallmark of my time here. How do we do that has always been my question? And UCOA has always answered!
We are a community who work together, play together and pray together…and the result is that we stay together! When there is a need, we come together to respond to that need however we are able. Whether it is the Angel Garden, the YSS Christmas stockings, the MICA food drive, the Pounds for Hounds or the monthly collection of stuff for ACCESS, we have made a difference here in Ames and it matters that we are here. We are, as we like to say, “Small, But Mighty!”
If you are seeking a spiritual path where your questions are welcome, your presence is valued, and you are welcome just as you are and you like to have fun, UCOA might be the place for you. Our classes are lively and our Sunday Services are meaningful, hopeful and helpful as we walk this spiritual path together. And on a side note, our potlucks are outstanding as there are some great cooks in this community!

Interfaith Service
Unity Church of Ames is a Vibrant Spiritual Community located at the corner of 9th & Kellogg in Old Town Ames. We have an active Chaplain Program, many community Outreach Activities including the Angel Garden Project and the Dream Seed Scholarship Program in conjunction with the Interfaith Community of Ames and YSS (Youth & Shelter Services). We explore the message of Jesus through the lens of esoteric Christianity with an emphasis on following Jesus rather than worshipping him. We practice Meditation every Wednesday at 6:30 as a cornerstone of our spiritual journey. Unity of Ames also participates in Interfaith services and activities in Ames and is Interspiritual in nature, embracing the traditions of all spiritual paths that lead to awakening consciousness.
The Unity movement was founded by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore in 1889 as a healing ministry based on the power of prayer and the power of our thoughts to create our own reality. The Fillmores regarded Jesus as the great example rather than the great exception; interpreted the Bible metaphysically; and taught that God is present within all of us.
Our world headquarters at Unity Village, Missouri, provides a tranquil atmosphere for quiet meditation and a place for all people, regardless of faith or nationality, to worship. The prayer, publishing, education, and retreat ministries allow us to provide people around the world with positive, spiritual messages of hope, healing, prosperity, and peace.
